Since at least as far back as ancient Roman times, important information was shared in the public square verbally by a town crier, also known as a bellman.
Royal proclamations, local bylaws, notices of market and festivals days, basic advertisements and critical civil updates alike were all disseminated this way.  Despite the pervasive use of social media's quick hit tweets, memes and emojis, people still have a visceral response to the human voice. While a picture may be worth a thousand words, a well told story can not only convey information, but spark an emotional response to your project/brand/product.
